Telephones, e-mailing, etc.

Due to a new federal privacy law, before we can exchange email with you, you will need to download an "Agreement on the Use of Email," sign it and return it to our office. If you would like to use a more secure, HIPAA compliant email method that does not require this agreement, please click here.

Before calling your physician, have a pencil and paper ready and the following information (except in emergencies):
  • Your child's main symptoms
  • Note: If your child has a chronic disease, be sure to mention it.
  • Your child's temperature (if he or she is sick)
  • Your child's approximate weight (needed for calculating drug dosages)
  • The names and dosages of any medication your child is taking
  • Your pharmacy's telephone number
  • Your questions written down
Have your child nearby in case something needs to be checked.

We don't have specific "call-in" hours in our practice, but we do appreciate if you try to make the "routine" and non-urgent calls during the regular office hours, 8 to 6, Monday through Friday. Since one of our priorities is to keep to our appointment schedule, we ask you to leave those non-urgent calls on our voice mail system. We return your calls during a lull in the schedule, lunch time or at the end of the day (which can be after 8 pm on some days.)

For emergencies during office hours, just ask the secretary to grab one of us -- DO NOT leave a voice mail message.

After hours, if you call our regular telephone number, (516) 466-KIDS, you can leave non-urgent messages on the voice mail system. We check for messages every one or two hours until 11 pm.

For after hours medical emergencies ONLY, simply page us at the 800# posted on our answering system.

To facilitate the return of your telephone calls,
PLEASE REMOVE ALL
